use several names in an address block field

Lylliam

I'm want to print envelopes using mail merge. In my data source (excel), some
of my fields have 2 names for one address. I entered these fields in the
data source by clicking <ctrl> <alt> to have two names in the same field.
However, when going to print in word's mail merge, the <ctrl> <alt> comese up
as a little square. How should I enter the multiple names in excel to avoid
this.

I want to print just one envelope with the same address but with two names.
i.e.
Mr. Joe Smith
Ms. Debra Johnson
123 Long Way Rd.
New York, NY 12345

Thank you.

I don't think the Address Block will display the two lines for you (are you
actually using Alt-Enter to enter your two lines, or what?)

You can either avoid the Address Block altogether and use individual fields
for all the items in it or modify/re-insert the address block with "Insert
Recipient's name in this format" unchecked, and use an individual field for
your name field before it (say your names are in a column called "name",
then use ctrl-F9 to insert the special {} field code braces and type
MERGEFIELD name between them, so you end up with

{ MERGEFIELD name }
