Use Word as Outlook email ed: "handeled" is considered correct sp

Standardize SPELL CHECKER. I deplore the awful spelling found on emails.
I use MS Word as my Outlook email editor. Yet, I found that "handeled" was
flagged and corrected (to "handled") in MSWord. Yet in composing emails using
MS Word as my Outlook email editor, "handeled" was not picked up as a
spelling error.

In the text where "handeled" was not flagged, was the text formatted as some
flavor of English and "Do not check spelling or grammar" NOT checked?

I learned later (as I was replying to the message I had received with the
misspelling) that the spell checker seemed to be interested only in the new
text I entered and it ignored the original email text that was automatically
included with my reply. By typing "handeled" in my reply, the word was marked
for correction, but the same word in the original text was ignored.

In Outlook, go to Tools > Options > Spelling. If the option "Ignore
original message text in reply or forward" is checked, this is the
behavior you'll get.

I'd be reluctant to correct the spelling in text someone else sent me
in an email, unless they had specifically asked for that kind of
advice. That's especially true of Office's automatic spelling
correction, which can make some hilarious (or embarrassing)
substitutions.
