"UseOA" Access 2000 import meaning

DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acImport, 0,...."C:\temp\data.xls".,[UseOA] = true

I am trying to load spreadsheets that someone may be in. When I leave
[UseOA] blank I get an error when someone is in it, when I mark it TRUE, it
loads.

Does anyone know what this does?

Am I going to run into problems down the road? It may have tried to open it
as notify behind the scences?
