User Access - Managing RBS and Categories

Hi,
Had some question regarding user access

I have about 10 teams working on different products.
IS it better to have 10 different views to be created in Categories(i will
have ten categories and in projct centre view will give access to their
product)

Is that a good idea or should i do it other way.I also have RBS created
that way say as PM under taht i ahve 10productteams and under each product
team i have teamlead and teammember.
Suppose if Team lead creates a project he will defintly provide his
"teamname" as i ahve created one custom field with look up. and so my filter
for views will be managed accordingly.

Please suggest if this is ok or can i do it in more simpler way.
Thanks
max

I'm not sure what your requirements are. If a team member is assigned to a
project, the default security settings allow them access to that project. I
think that using the rule-based approach is easier to set up and maintain
than building individual categories. Take a look at how the default settings
are put together to get an idea of how it works.

Also note that it is a good practice not to assign categories to individual
users. Users should belong to groups. Groups should have access to
categories.

Thanks Jack for your tips.
Well i do agree that i should assign him into a group.
When i click on a user , then in his settings i also have option of Choosing
Categories
so i do i need to leave that blank and not assign any cateogories, because
as you say
if i select him as "Team member" then he would be having access to the
security as establised while creating that group called "Team member"
Please mark me wrong or right
thanks

My recommendation is not to assign individual users to categories.
Maintaining groups is an easier way to maintain the permissions.
You can do it of course, but unless you have a very specific reason it is
not the best way to go about it.
