User guide

Dear All, Now I have got Project Server 2003 installed can anyone suggest a
good and easy to use user guide to setting up the application?
I have the pdf's printed from the site but I really want a step-by-step
guide to setting it up and customising it. I dont know if there is such a
download already available on the Microsoft site. I know you guys are usually
very helpful and any assistance here would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Bruce

For install there are a couple of guides available depending on the
configuration, Single or multiple servers. As for customizing the server,
well that’s the real trick isn’t it. There is lots of scattered information
available but not much in the way of formal documentation. Start with the
project sdk and check out anything you can find from the two guys who post
here on a regular basis, (Dale and Gary) as they are awesome and a wealth of
information. I will post some links below.

Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 Resource Kit

Microsoft Office Project 2003 Developer Center

Project Server Experts

Hope it helps,

Dear Scott, I will give this a go and see how far I get. I want to put a few
projects in as a 'proof of concept' and see how we get on.

Thanks again

Bruce -

The MSProjectexperts books are good, especially the Administration and
Project Manager books. They are significantly easier to use than the
Microsoft materials. SAMS also produces a book (full disclosure - my
company wrote it) called Project Server 2003 Unleashed. It can be
picked up at most Barnes and Nobles. It comes with an eBook edition on
the CD ROM. I have all three and I use, in order Project Server 2003
Unleashed, MSProjectExpert books, and Microsoft materials.

Whichever resource or resources you use, I would hit the books now
because some of the early decisions you make can really impact the user
perception of the application.

Good luck,
