I just bought microsoft student 2007 and dont have a clue how to use this
crazy thing.... too many buttons..... we bought it because we are starting to
homeschool our kids and were advised to start teaching them how to use this
program. I need a complete users guide. does anyone know where I can download
one that I can also print off.

Well, the days when we got 5 pounds of handbooks for each application
are long gone :-( :-(

But there's quite some information available.

#1: The Help feature in ON.
On it's start page there is a link to an introduction.

#2: There is a "Guide" notebook in the default "OneNote notebooks"
directory.
Just open it with "File | Open.

#3 There's tons of articles, demos and webcasts on ON in the OneNote
section of the "MS Office Online" website:

Start with "Getting started" and/or "OneNote 101" there.

Thanks for the links. I have been using OneNote for a few months now. I
really like it. I used to keep tons of MS Notepad and MS Word documents all
over the place with notes about work, personal things, etc.. Now, I just use
OneNote.

I hate to sound like a commmercial, but, this app has helped me get
organized and keep everything in one place. Before, when I would work, I
would have a number of documents open with notes. Now, I have OneNote open
and just go to different tabs, sections, pages, etc.

I will check out your links. I do want to learn more about this app.

One thing that really confuses me is that there is no "Save". Once you type
something, it's in your document. It just throws me for a loop, and I keep
pressiong "Ctrl-S" every once in a while out of habit.

Yes, working with ON needs the change of quite some conceptual models
one is used to from working with the usual standard apps.

The automat saving and the missing "Save" menu-items/buttons is just
one.

Even more important: The habit to close *document* when done with it.
Not too easy for newbies to get accustomed to just always leave all
notebooks open.

And quite something to teach users not to use any kind of file-sync
software on ON.
As I regularly sync "My Documents" between my desktop computer and my
laptop, already during the Beta I moved the OneNote directory to a
different location which is excluded from synching

Once
you type something, it's in your document. It just throws me for a
loop, and I keep pressiong "Ctrl-S" every once in a while out of
habit.
