User Name and Company info location in registry

We shall appreciate it if someone could kindly inform us where the user-name
and user-company info is located in the Windows XP Pro registry or elsewhere
for installations of Microsoft Office 2000 Pro and also Microsoft Office XP
Pro.

The info is needed to change the user-company info for an individual with
two laptops with the two versions of MS Office installed and who is no
longer with the original company he used to work for.

The software on both machines belong to the laptop owner and are legit. he
had installed them at home but entered the old company's name for some
reason.

Now that he no longer is associated with them, he "needs" to get it off or
change it. Otherwise he gets irritated whenever the splash screens of any of
the MS applications are run (several times a day!)

It is not any form of technical issue at all - as one may understand. A
friend and me already searched the registry one time of one machine and
manually deleted the name of the old company by doing a "Find" on it. But
the splash screen still came up with the old company's name!

Regards and thanks for any suggestion in this matter.

Hi,

The user informatio can be changed simply by opening Microsoft Word and then
going to Tools --> Options --> User information.

To change the company name, you might want to try the following registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData

\S-1-5-18\Products\9040110900063D11C8EF10054038389C\InstallProperties\RegCompany

Hope this helps!
