User name and password window

I do a test on my order form pages and when I click submit the User Name and
Password windows pops up requiring that information. I had a friend test it
online and they get the same thing. How do I get rid of that so my clients
can place their orders?

could we see a link to the page in question.
it's most likely a "permissions" issue with the form handler but a look at
the page will allow us to be sure.

the order form pages and the contact pages have this:
_vti_bin/shtml.exe/

Where are you saving the "order information"??

If in the _private folder make sure that "server write" permissions are set for the _private folder and any files it
contains.

The info is being saved in the _private folder and how do I set the server
write permissions and the files in it?

It depends on the server type.
Windows server, contact your host.
Apache / UNIX with the web masters CPanel, open the CPanel and do it yourself.

The FrontPage server extensions should handle the permissions automatically.
can you have your host re-apply the server extensions?

We are going to the site secured. Right now I am more worried about getting
the form page working.

The FrontPage extensions will not work over a secure https protocol
unless they are also installed on port 443. I believe GoDaddy have
their own ideas about this - you may have to look for a different
solution to gathering secure information on their servers, such as ASP,
ASP.NET, etc. Additionally, banks will object to storing credit card
data in a web site. And don't even think about sending credit card data
in an email - this requires at least encryption installed on the server
- email is definitely NOT secure, and the banks will blacklist you in no
time flat.

CC data is not stored on the website and we are going to get the emails
secure certificate for the emails.
