User Permissions dissapear from Project Workspaces !!!

Anita

Hi.

I have found that my users loose their permissions on the Project Workspaces
in SharePoint when I edit their details in Project Server 2007.

Users that have been added to the SharePoint workspaces dissapear when any
of their details are edited in Project Server 2007.

This is a pain for the Project Managers to add the users back to the
SharePoint workspaces with appropriate rights.

Any sugg ??

Anita, when you say "any details are edited" what exactly do you mean by
this. It would be great if you could write step by step what you do and what
behaviour you expect. Than we may be able to help
Thanks

Hi Marc,

Step 1. Project Manager adds a user to SharePoint Project Workspace through
Site Settings > Advanced Permissions. This could be contributor or reader.
(Not Project Server groups)

Step 2. EPM Administrator now updates or modifies the users details in
Manage users. This is generally either the resource custom field or security
group or category in Project Server.

Once step 2 is complete the user looses access to the Project Workspace that
the project manager added the user to.

I would imagine this should not happen.

Does this help

hi Anita,

I dont quite understand why you have the first step. Project Server usually
takes care of the reader and contributer.
This is how it generally works:
Resource that is not part of project team does not have access.
Resources that has become part of the project team has read access
Resource htat has become part of the project ream AND is assigned to a task
receives contributer access.

This is how Project Server handles the security. But, as you say, that the
EPM Admin changes the user sercurity group, it can of course happen that your
users suddenly have different access rights. I would think that is shouldnt
be required to change permission on a Production environment, otherwise you
face the challanges that you are facing currently.
I hope this helps
