User with large mailbox

Hi,

I have a user that is on a laptop and half the time works off line.

The user has Outlook 2003 and is in a cached mode off of an Exchange 2003
Enterprise server. Currently downloading full items because of the offline
work.
The mail box is curently 4.17+ GB with 38,440 mail items.

As you can see he uses Outlook as his files but complains that Outlook is
very slow.

Do you have any suggestions for speeding up Outlook response?

Should I create a seperate mail store for large users?

Is exporting older mail to a PST an option?

Not really. It a VP who wants all teir mail in in the mail folder. Does
compacting speed up anything in Outlook? Ist here any other way?
