Users can upload pictures to my site

Doug Stewart

I want to creat a real estate advertising site. For this, advertisers need to
be able to upload text and pictures to my site. How can I do this? My WEB is
created in Frontpage 2002.

I will need some sort of control mechanism (userid and password) so that
only people with a userid and password can upload.

I've seen this on other sites (e.g. www.french-property.com), but don't know
if there is a cheap package around to do this or if I need to pay some
designer thousands of dollars to do it.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

If you look through the Frence-Property.com site you will
see that the picture posts are:

Powered by: PhotoPost PHP 3.3.1

If your host supports the PHP programming language you
should look into the PhotoPost PHP 3.3.1 program. There
is a link to it on the French-Property.Com website.

We have written something similar as a bespoke site for a client. Our
application automatically compresses the image files down to a
managable size. See www.thesnaps.com

You will need to use server side coding for the controlled access and File upload (ASP on Windows Servers) and a database
If you have no coding experience, you are best of hiring a developer

Coppermine is a good alternative.

Hi Dough,
All the best for your new online venture!
from my experience if you leave advertisers a chance to upload
unless they are experience, they will make a mess of it
and you will have a tough time handling their problems

instead you can ask your agents from different areas
to collect and add data and pictures themselves for you
on which you have complete publising controll

www.french-property.com approach is an "adjustment way"
of making use of a photo gallery for property sales.
"Coppermine" also is another software for photo gallery
if you are seriously looking for advertisement
you have to present thing a bit more professionally
afterall why should your visitors compromise?

I had been working on a similar model
for Asian Tusnami Victims
where volunteers from all over the world can contribute/edit articles
at their free will from anywhere any time
but the site owner have full controll of publising it

if you are really serious send me a mail to shaji-at-websickle.com
asking login password and url
I can walk you through this live project and explain you
how you can commerically exploit this model for your business needs
helping you to standout of your compitition,
without breaking your head on new technology
but saving money from development and maintainance.

regards,
Shaji Mathew
