User's cleanup has disabled OfficeXP

Michael

A client has run a bunch of stuff like defrag, disc check,
WinClean (I've never heard of it), and now cannot start
any OfficeXPPro applications. It asks for the CD to
install. The programs are still installed in Program
Files, and there are shortcuts in place, etc. Is this a
case of user self-destruction and will they have to
reinstall Office entirely? And maybe other programs!

Thanks
Michael

Hi, Michael,

Very possibly. A re-install is a good way to ensure that you have a clean
installation.

WinClean sounds pretty ominous...<grin>. However, defrag and scandisk
activities are very good things to do on a regular basis for maintenance.

It is hard telling what registry entries the user erased or cleaned out.
Suggest a reinstall to replace all missing items.

Many thanks for that. As I thought - user self-destruct.
Well they'll have to have it reinstalled.
