Hi All,

I have a question about creation of users in project 2003, I am
creating a Project Server Authenticated Users from Project Professional
2003, through Enterprise Resource Pool then I can able to view this
users in PWA and also in Project Professional Built Team but when I
create Users directly from PWA-->Admin->Manage users &Group, project
server authenticated users these users i can not able to view from
Project Professional 2003 Plan. I dont know why i am not able to see
these users.
anyone have idea why this happening..?
any suggestion will be helpfull for me...

Thanx,

Mukul,
This is a Project Server question. You will get a better response if you
post to our sister newsgroup, microsoft.public.project.server. This
newsgroup is dedicated to the stand alone installation of Project.

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
you are grossly misunderstanding the difference between enterprise resources
and user accounts. When you create an enterprise resource in the Enterprise
Resource Pool, and then save the pool, the system automatically creates a
user account for this enterprise resource. The user account allows the
resource to use Project Server, based on the security Group(s) to which you
add the resource. The enterprise resources you create in the Enterprise
Resource Pool should be resources that are available for project work. This
means that your PM's can see them in the Build Team dialog.

On the other hand, you may have users who will not work on projects and
should NOT be in the Enterprise Resource Pool. This might include your
executives, who need to access and see project and portfolio data, but will
not work on projects. For people like this, you should create user accounts
for them in PWA using Admin - Manager Users and Groups. Again, you must
place these user accounts into the correct security Group(s) to allow them
to use the system as they need to do. In the case of your executives, you
should include them in the Executives group.

So, here's the point: for resources who will work on projects, you must
create them in the Enterprise Resource Pool and the system will create user
accounts for them automatically. For those who will not work on projects
but need access to Project Server, create user accounts for them manually in
PWA. Hope this helps.
