Using a DBF file as a data source fails

Hi folks.

The subject sorta says it all. If I create a new document (Office 2003)
and try to open a .DBF file as the data source I get dumped back to the
OS (XPSP2). No errors shown, just straight back to Windows. Same applies
if I try and export an Access table to a DBF file; dumped back to Windows.

I suspect that a DLL or some such isn't registered, but I don't know
which one or whether it is some more fundamental problem.

Anyone got any bright ideas?
