using a macro to insert carriage returns

K

Keith

Hi all,

I have a large dictionary file with the individual words separated with
spaces. I created a macro to find and replace spaces with carriage returns.
It works for a short while, and then the entire systems hangs. I am using
Word XP. Is there a limit ot the size of file that can be processed?

TIA

Why not just use Edit>Replace to replace the space (use the spacebar) with
^p

wow, speedy response! Ta.

Only problem is, dictionary file is 2.5M. Rather too many spaces to do
manually, hence the macro.

I was not suggesting doing them manually. From the Edit menu, select
replace. In the Find what control, press the space bare to insert a space
and in the Replace with control enter ^p, then click on Replace All.
