Using a new Wacom tablet Pen when in "Slide Show Mode"

J

James

When I do slide shows I usually have 1 or 2 animated
figures on each slide.

Problem is when I activate my pen for my Graghire-2
and "use it to draw anywhere" it freezes my animations as
a result of using it.

I use XP Pro OS and XP Office.
I have plenty of CPU(2G)and Ram (512Mb).

I could run 20 animations at once if I wanted to.

The problem is PowerPoint not my new Tablet with the
latest drivers, is there a solution?

update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for

Hello James,

Does this same problem occur if you just use the mouse and the built-in
drawing tools of PowerPoint slide show (and not the tablet and pen)? If so,
it sounds like the tablet software becomes the foreground application when
being used. A full-screen PowerPoint slide shows will always pause when
something else is the foreground application. You might want to check with
the Wacom folks to see if there's a way to configure their software so that
you can use the table during slide show without the pen application being
the foreground application.

Another alternative is to use the Set Up Show dialog to have the slide show
displayed as "Browsed by an individual (window)" since this changes the
behavior of slide show so that it does not require being the foreground
application.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that PowerPoint
should include an option which allows full-screen slide shows to continue
running when they lose focus (without requiring an add-in or additional
software), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please)

John Thank You for your prompt reply, and to answer your
questions. . .

1)When I use either,my tablet pen, or the MS built-in pen
available under pointer option's= my animations stop when
giving a full screen presentation in "Slide Show Mode".

2) So apparently, both run in the forground and will
instantly kill the movement of any animation by design of
both vendors i.e. MS and Wacom.

3)It doesn't have to be this way considering the CPU
power and memory being used in todays home computers.

I see this as an eventual issue in the near future for
PowerPoint which could be addressed soon and before too
many consumers become unhappy by simply adding a few
lines of code because Wacom really is not the problem.
THANKS
What to do now?

Hi James,

I am not able to reproduce this on my Windows XP and PowerPoint 2003
system. When I use the pen (except for a slight delay when choosing the pen
initially, I am alble to make annotations while the slide show continues
(animations and transitions) without any pausing of the effects.

So my questions would be,

1) What version of Windows and PowerPoint are you using.
2) When you use the PowerPoint slide show pen, are you using the mouse or
the tablet to move the cursor?
3) If you remove the tablet from your system and just have a mouse, does
thte same problem occur (perhaps there's a conflict between the two)?
