Using a resource pool in MSProject2000

When using a resource pool, if the pool has Max Units of 100% and the Units
on the Task Detail form has 50%, which Units field does MSProject actually
use for that task?

50%. Max Units is a) the default assignment level if less than 100%; and b)
the "never exceed" limit for peak usage. The scenario you describe means
that we could use this person up to their entire workday (the max of 100%)
if we need to, but for this particular task he only needs to devote 50% of
his attention to it in order to get it finished by the time we need it and
we'd like to use him for something else part of those days instead of having
work on it full time and finishing sooner.
