using an XML value in Formula

K

Katayon

Hi,

This is my first time using InfoPath, and I can not figure out how to
perform this particular calculation. I want a user entered field called
"SQFTCountertop" to multiply by a price value (cost per square foot) in an
XML (excel) spreadsheet at cell I3, to result in TotalCost (textbox)

Anotherwords, 'SQFTCountertop*I3'.

I have managed to connect the XML file as a secondary Data Source. But
cannot figure out how to adjust the formula in the properties of the
TotalCost textbox so that it will perform this calculation. Specifically,
how to get it to look at the value in cell I3.

Thanks for your help,
Katayon

Right-click on the text box bound to the TotalCost; select properties. Click
on the Default Values f(x) button. This will take you to the formula
builder.

Click Insert Field or Group. Select the secondary data source (the one that
points to an Excel XML file), then expand the Data Source tree until you
find I3.

Good luck,
Alex

Thanks for your help Alex. I have been trying that, but I expanded every
single folder, and I even found a folder called "Cell". But I do not see a
listing of all the cells individually. Is there some particular format my
XML file needs to be in?

if I could get a response from either Alex or anyone as quickly as possible,
I would really appreciate it.
