Using Brackets in Excel

Robert

I would like to know how to show negative numbers in an
Excel worksheet in brackets rather than a minus sign in
front of the number.

Thanks and regards

Hi Robert

Select the Cells that you whish to apply formula to then,
from the Format Menu select Cells, then select the Number
tab and highlight custom. From the options list available
select
#,##0;[Red]-#,##0

This should do the trick.

Select cells or column, Format, cells, number, (here... currency), negative
number :choose the 4th one down (it should have round brackets and be red).
If not your number regional settings will modify this. If you cannot change
the formatting the way I describe it then you will have to customize that
way it was described by the other posters
