using chart templates

I upgraded to 07 this year. The charting capabilities are greatly improved
but I'm having difficulty using the chart template function.

Here is the scenario:
I have 10 charts that need reformatting. I reformatted one and saved as a
template. Then when I go to change the chart type for the remaining 9, it
adjust the formatting but all the data is lost.

Can't figure out why it's doing it.
