Using comma as decimal separator - HELP

Hi,
I have Excel 2004 11.2.0 for Mac and run it on Tiger 10.4.4. but cant
get the comma to be as a decimal separator.
All is set in system preferences (international>formats), but it wont
pick it up. It always stays on US setings, I mean comma as a thousand
separator and dot as decimal. I need it other way around.

The International prefs are a little buggy in this regard and there are
several possibilities that are not currently accessible. There are
complicated workarounds, but currently, the easiest way to go is to
select a country with coma as the decimal separator as your region (eg:
France) and customize the rest back the way you like it.
If you keep the region as US in these prefs, you cannot customize the
format for numbers.

Thanks, I know it works that way, but I am holding it as "Custom"
Can it be a problem that it says "can be used only in Unicode apps"
??

Not really.
What matters is that you base the customization on a region that has the
proper number format for you. Hopefully, someday, Apple will fix the
interface and allow us to customize the number format for all regions

Thanks again, I got it working this time :)

The problem lies in the Unicode setings - excel needs the roman too, so
it picks up the next in line that has roman in it, so it was US for me.
Have changed it to German, then unchecked the show all regions box and
in custom applied what I wanted - All works fine now!

Once again thanks

P.S. - it is down to the apple in your country to make the
unicode/roman setings, so the apps can use it proper

I'm glad it worked. I really hope Apple will fix that soon :-\
