Using contacts in Word

When using contacts for addresses in Word Envelopes, the order always appears
with full name eg. Mr. B. Bloggs although in outlook the display is set in
surname order which makes finding a name easy.

Is there any way to get the contacts list to appear in surname order when
used in Word ?

State your versions.
State through which interface you are selecting Contacts. Your description
is too brief for us to tell.

That will follow the sort order you specify for your Outlook Address Book.
Perhaps you have not set that correctly.
Check to see. In Outlook, go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change
existing directories or address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set
your sort order there.
