using correct Word version

I have two versions of Microsoft Office installed on my Windows 7 system:

-Office XP (Word 2002 which I much prefer to use)
-Office 2007 (which contains Word 2010 which I rarely use and dislike)

Problem I have is that when I click on a shortcut for a Word document
named *.doc" it now opens in Word 2010 instead of Word 2002.

How do I make all *.doc" open in Word 2002 and not in Word 2010?

Do I need to uninstall Word 2010 and re-install it differently or
something else? It's very annoying.

With two versions of Word running on the same machine they will "compete"
over the file associations. To work around this, see the "Hacking the
Registry" section of the article at
