Using CSS simply for font size

P

Pat

Trying to use CSS's to make all my text the same font size
and color. It's not working- I can display my uploaded
page in my browser and change the View/Text Size and my
text changes sizes rather than sticking to the CSS
formatting. What's wrong?

I've created a simple external style sheet with the needed
styles. I'm a little confused with some of the tags in
that my site using tables. So I've changed the majority of
tags to the same font size and color. I've linked my CSS
page to the page I'm testing. Is it then necessary to
select the text that I want to format and choose the
Format/Style menu option? I'm assuming it isn't so long as
the attributes of my page (such as 'body') match the
corresponding style in the linked page.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much!

Thanks for your response. Please excuse my ignorance. I
thought that my CSS could override the users browser
settings. My test page at
http://www.appraisalservices.com/testcss.htm seems to keep
the text size the same no matter what I select in my
browser. Does in change in your browser?

I did notice that after I apply a style that the HTML view
does not show any tagging of that style. Is that some sort
of bug?

Are you viewing the page in IE or NS browser? In IE the user can change the
font size or override the CSS. This is not a FP issue.

I'm using IE. I seemed to have frozen the text size now
that I got rid of some stray HTML formatting tags. Now, it
seems that the IE text size setting DOES NOT change the
displayed font size. Is that correct?

I can still change the font size on your test page.

Oops. With all my changes I accidently linked the wrong
stylesheet. It's fixed now--- does it change now?

For the average user, yes the font size is fixed, however the user can set
IE to ignore your font settings under the Accessibility option.

Thank you for all your help. I'm just trying to format my
site a little more tightly for the average user. Greatly
appreciated!

Pat,

Just remember if a user can't adjust the font size to where they can read
the content on your site, then the users will move on to another site that
they can read.
