Using Cut reprograms formulas

R

When I cut a column of numbers that are used in a formula, when I paste
the formula is modified to reflect the new position in the spreadsheet
as to where the columns lies. I want the formula to stay use the same
reference cells as I paste a new set of numbers and want to see the
result. I tried using paste special but it is greyed out.
What am I doing wrong?

Don't use the "Cut" feature! It has the same effect (as you could find out)
as the "Move" (or "cell drag & drop") feature, moving every subsequent link
and things can go quite messy using it. Just use "Copy" and "Paste" instead
