using different reply to address

I just switched to a Mac. On my PC I used Outlook and was able to use a different email address for my reply to address as opposed to my sending address. This is important to me because I use an email forwarding account, which is a lifetime email address (easy to remember and never changes). I do not see any way to do this on Entourage. It makes it unusable for me, since my recipients will see a strange email address. Is there a workaround?

This blog post doesn't address your issue specifically but it does
provide instructions for how to create a dummy account. This is what
you're needing.

In Entourage preferences do you have checked "Reply using the default
account"? Uncheck that, and all replies will be sent using the address from
which Entourage received them.

How to set a Reply address different than the address I send from:

Thanks for the response Bill. However, this seems to just allow me to add a signature that would put a different address on the bottom of my reply message. It looks to me that the header would still show my original email address, which would be confusing to recipients, who sent their email to a different address. The Outlook method is so much neater!

Thanks, Diane. This is close, but it does not solve my problem when I want to send an original email to somebody. They will see my regular email account, not my forwarding account, which is the one I want them to see. Of course, I can include a message: "Please reply to: ", but most people will not notice. I am concerned both about confusion and about people referring to an old message and not having my current email address (one of the major advantages of email forwarding for life).

Create a "send only" account. A "Send Only" Account is used when you don't
want your actual email address shared.

Not sure if you need to add the reply to header or not.

You need to ignore the information about signature and just pay
attention to the part about creating dummy accounts.

Also, remember that Entourage is *not* Outlook for Mac nor is Entourage
a port of Outlook's code to Mac. These are two separate products that
each have similarities as well as differences. Because Outlook can do
something and you're use to it doesn't mean that Entourage will or
should work the same way.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Bill, I had not read far enough. However, the dummy account/rule method turns out to be more complicated than necessary. After looking it over, I realized all I needed to do is change my email address in the account setting! As long as I keep the account ID and password intact, the proper information gets passed along to the email server when sending and receiving, but recipients see the email address I put in the account information. The trick is to change the setting after setup so Entourage knows what email server you are using. I am now a happy camper. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
