Using Draw line selected howto deselect without work area moving?

Making a family tree in Word I use Draw Line and Text boxes. I edit say a
selected line in an area at high magnification for accurate alignment and
when I left-click to deselect the line the area I was working on disappears
and another part of the document is displayed. How can I prevent that?

I am guessing that you are using Word for page makeup rather than
Wordprocessing. Each object you create is associated with a paragraph and if
you have no text on your page then the cursor will shoot back to the top left
when you delete items. One crude way to reduce the inconvience is to fill
your page with Returns before you start - then it will only jump to the left
of the page rather than top left. Perhaps an easier solution is to download
one of the excellent free family tree programs such as "MyHeritage Family
Tree Builder" which will provide you with more different report formats than
you can ever imagine.

Good Luck
