Entourage is installed on both machines (imac as host and macbook), How can e-mails received by the host also be receive (sametime) at the macbook with the same account.

POP is not a reliable solution for this. The best recommendation I can give
you is to use IMAP; it was designed precisely for the type of scenario you
are describing, i.e. accessing and managing an e-mail account via multiple
computers.

On both machines, in the account settings, set the accounts up to 'leave
mail on server for [x] days'. Set 'x' to be some suitable value that
will ensure that both machines will connect to collect all the mail (30
days?).

However, be warned that if the server records are reset at any time (out
of your hands - could be the ISP carrying out some routine maintenance),
ALL the mail on the server will be downloaded again.

Thanks, This is much helpfull. It seems to work and mail is coming in onto both machines.
The next step I have to find out is how I can synchronise in such way that sent items are also coming back on both machines. Do you have any idea?
Kind Regards, Don

Two methods:

1. BCC yourself on every mail you send. This could probably be
automated by including the bcc header in the custom headers section of
the account settings

2. set up a mail rule under the 'outgoing' tab to send a copy of the
mail to yourself - you will need to take a couple of steps to prevent a
mail loop:
a. set up a category called 'forwarded'
b. set up your outgoing mail rule with selection criteria "Category is
not Forwarded"
c. set up your outgoing mail rule with two actions - the first to set
the category to 'Forwarded'; the second to forward the mail to yourself.

Again, this is where IMAP comes in very handy, as it does this
automatically, without your actually needing to set up additional rules or
having to forward your own sent messages.

Unfortunately my provider does not support IMAP. So, I have to use the other possibilities.
However, many thanks for the advice.

Dump them. Gmail is a very reliable free IMAP provider.
