Using Entourage on both Laptop and Desktop

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have been using Entourage 2008 on a mac laptop (Tiger) for a couple of years, I just purchased a MacPro with Leopard. I want to the new computer as my primary Computer for e-mail, and syncing ( iphone) but not give up the ability to use email on the laptop when out of home(not syncing).

I have several folders\subfolders, I also have several pop accounts with rules that redirect those e-mail accounts to folders. 2 years worth of saved messages, contacts etc. I would like to transfer/copy this to my new desktop. What is the best way?
Will I need to reset up all mail accounts, etc in order to sync with iphone?
thx

If you have not used Entourage on the new computer move the entire Microsoft
User Data folder to the Documents folder.

If you have used Entourage on the new computer, move the entire identity
folder you want to use to the Office Identities folder. Your identity is
named "Main" by default. Be sure to rename one so you do not overwrite. Your
identity folder can contain more than one identity.

Be sure to set your POP accounts to "leave on server" under the Options tab
in the Account window. Otherwise I suggest getting an IMAP account. IMAP
seems to work best with the iPhone.

This is a whole other can of worms....

Basically, Sync Services uses a database called the Truth. You can read more
about it here: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/syncservices/basics.html>

As far as the keychain goes as long as the relevant accounts have the
passwords in both keychains they don't have to be exact mirrors.

You might let the Apple applications sync up first then turn on Sync
Services with Entourage. Sync Services still has a long way to go to work
perfectly. The more computers, phones etc that aRe in the loop the bigger
the changes of sync getting messed up. Duplicates and/or erased data are two
hot topics. Be sure you have backups of our contacts and other data in case
of problems.

I still recommend getting an IMAP account for best results.

I tried setting up imap when I first installed entourage, this issue I ran into is although I could connect, i never could get anything other folder than the inbox to work. I also have an iphone which had issues setting up the imap. Any suggestions or guidelines , I am already starting to have problems with duplicates.

Thx

In Schedules, did you select the other folders to download?
