Im going Nutz tying to figure out how I can use filters in my spread sheet while keeping the small picture that is pasted into the cell as normal data. When filters are used the pictures stay on the sheet and overlap one another or move around unwantedly. I want the pictures to act just like text acts in the cells when using filters.
Any help on how to accomplish this????

thanks a million

Considering the fact that Excel doesn't store objects in cells what you're
asking isn't an option. Objects are contained in a "layer" that essentially
floats atop the worksheet. You can modify the positioning property [Format
Picture> Properties] to have the object behave in different ways but I don't
think it will provide the result you're asking for.

As Bob said, pictures aren't "normal data", so you can't keep them as
normal data. The only thing that cells can contain are constants and
formulae.

That said, if you just want to use filters to hide/display rows, make
sure that

a) the pictures are formatted to "Move and size with cells"
b) the pictures are positioned completely within the borders of
their underlying cells.

However, you still can't sort the cells and have the pictures come
along. There are ways using VBA to sort the pictures, but XL08 doesn't
do VBA. It could in theory be done via AppleScript, but I wouldn't want
to go to the effort of attempting it without getting paid for it.

Frankly, most applications that my clients have had for this sort of
thing over the years are MUCH better handled in a database app. Some
persist in using XL, and usually regret it - all it takes is an
inadvertent single-column sort that permanently scrambles records.
