using Excel to populate org charts

I get the following error ONLY when i use the command line in Visio 2003
whenever I use the "/pages" switch to specifiy the "top employee" in order to
keep Visio from splitting my chart across multiple pages.
"Employee name "<Name>" is not in your organization data"

Does anyone know how to fix this?
My source data is in an Excel file and when I run the wizard from within
Visio ( as opposed to running it via command line) I get no errors and the
org chart is built properly on 1 page with the correct "top employee"

My top employee does have subordinates
