Using Excel to Populate Power Point Slides

how can I populate my power point slides with Excel, Access, Word or Note
pad? I thought I heard about this capability in class, but that was a long
time ago. I assume it would be macro driven but haven't been able to figure
out the secret. Is it an Office Project level question?
