using field code NEXT

Sheree

I am trying to merge several names and address into the
same letter (instead of 1 letter for each name/address).
Right now I am using the NEXT command as follows
{mergefield recipient_fulladd}
{next} {mergefield recipient_fulladd} etc.

I also have additional merge fields later in the letter,
like client # etc. The problem is if I don't merge the
same amount of recipients as I have NEXT commands, Word
does not complete the rest of the mergefields in the
letter.
Ex: I have 3 next commands and only merge 2 people, the
client # etc does not merge. Its like because I don't
meet the next commands, Word fails. If I merge 4 people
(the original field + 3 next commands), it works fine.

I can't know, setting up the form letter, how many people
will be sent a letter.....

Any suggestions?
