using files offline

My main work files are on a PC. I can share these files on the mac while I am on the same wireless network. I want to be able to work on these files offline on my mac when I am not at home. Any suggestions? When I had a PC laptop I could do this just by setting it up to work offline but this doesn't seem to be an option with the mac.

I copy the files I am likely to need to a folder on the Mac before I leave
the network.

If that won't work for you, post again and tell us why. There are other
options.

Yes I can do this. However on the PC system not only could I use my files offline when away from home but when I got back home the PC and laptop automically synchronised the files so I always knew I had the latest versions on both PC and laptop. Easier than remembering to copy things over all the time. So just copying files over via a memory stick or whatever seems a backward step to me. Otherwise I love my mac notebook!

I know what you mean. But I have never trusted the PC's Offline Files
ability anyway.

It causes some really impressive lockups if someone edits the file while you
have it "away" :)

There are some third-party tools that may achieve what you want, but some
would expect to have a Mac at both ends :)

Hope this helps

Many thanks for this reply. I believe there is something called chronosync that might help.
