Using foriegn language

J

John Tripp

I am using xp & outlook 2002

I have set my language to Russian. It works fine for Word and Excel. I can
input russian text in either, save it, and email it as an attachment and the
sender sees the russian. If I type a message into Outlook (using Word as the
editor and using plain text), I see the russian but the message is displayed
at the receiving end as ?????. The text in Quotes below was typed in
Russian and looks fine on my screen. I don't know how it will look in the
post. But seeing how it displays might help.
"Ñ„Ñ„Ñ„Ñ„Ñ„Ñ„Ñ„"

I assume I have just failed to set some swithc in Outlook.

Thanks, John

You have to use the correct encoding to send messages with non-ASCII
content (Format -> Encoding: Cyrillic (KOI8-R), or Unicode (UTF-8)),
otherwise the receiving mail client won't know how to decode it.
