Using ISP's Program To Manage Forms (APlus.net and FormMail)

J

Jim A.

I read most of the FAQ's on Forms and still can't get them to work. I'm
using Pub 2007/IE7/Vista so HTTP publishing is nearly impossible (at least
with my ISP) so I had to FTP the site the the shared host. I have also
installed FrontPage file extensions if that makes a diference.

I am using the MS Pub 2007 "Create a Web Form and Add Form Controls
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HP030661351033.aspx) which is
pretty straightforward. With that, I am using my APlus.net's Formmail
instructions
(http://www.apluskb.com/scripts/search_kb.pl?catid=1&showquestion=863) which
pretty well correlate to the MS instructions. However, when I test the
"Contact Us" form on my website
(http://www.wearecompliant.com/index_files/contact.htm), I get the following
error msg: "Email was not sent to recipient. Maybe SMTP server or sendmail
program is not configured properly.
[Not enough parameters!]".

I sure would appreciate any help from someone with expertise on this.

Jim A.,

Since you are using APlus.net's Formmail, you do not have to use HTTP
uploading, and thus the FPSE are not necessary. FTP uploading is easier for
most anyway, and certainly with IE7 and Vista.

As to your error, I am not sure the why for. When you have your Pub file
open, right click the submit button > Format form properties > form
properties button > choose Use a program from my ISP. Then according to the
link you provided
http://www.apluskb.com/scripts/search_kb.pl?catid=1&showquestion=863 it
appears that you would copy and paste: /cgi-sys/formmail.pl in the Action
field, and select Post. It is possible that you will need to put the full
path in: http://www.wearecompliant.com/cgi-sys/formmail.pl .

If that doesn't solve your problem, then perhaps you can find more
information on how to use formail here:
http://www.scriptarchive.com/formmail.html I would also ask your webhost
support what that particular error means in regards to using formail...they
should be able to help you trouble shoot it.
