Using language switching in merge fields

Hi there

Is it possible to use the switches option in merge fields to show text
A for one language and text B for another?

I have a bunch of minimal text templates that I need to provide in
multiple languages, and I'd rather not have to maintain a separate
document for each separate language, but I don't know if I have any
options on that.
