using mail merge for a newsletter?

I am using Pub 2003 for a 10 page newsletter and would like to use mail
merge. But can I really do this for a 2000+ peice mailing where I typcially
hand off a PDF file to a printer?

Michelle,

If the printer is doing the merge they will probably do it as an imprint on
the printed newsletter. Also if they are using a VIP front end to a Xerox or
similar device they may have specialized software to do the merge. Consult
with your commercial printer as to their preferences. My method is to pre
RIP the 'Static' files to our Sun Station and have my VIP (merge) program
grab the pre RIPed files on the way through, this allows the equipment to
run at full rated speed.
