Using Mail merge to fill out a form

I have created a form which I am going to mail out to members of a group. I
am merging from a member database to fill out the form as much as I can.
This is for renewing membership into the club. I have a field called
family/single in my database which has an "s" or a "f" in it. On my form, I
have two fields with checkboxes. One called Family and the other called
Single. Is there a way that I can interrogate the database field and place
an "X" in the appropriate checkbox on the form for family or single?

TIA!

Hi, Patrick -

You are using Publisher for the merge?

If I understand, your data-source is set up with a field called
"family/single" and has a value in the cells of either "f" or "s" ? If this
is the case, the easiest way might be to do it twice.

Set up your form in Publisher with an "X" in the family spot. Set your
Publisher merge query to "family/single" = f. Then print that merge.

Then change the form to have the "X" in the single spot. Set the query for
"family/single" = s. Then print that merge.

M.
