On the Windows version of Word I am able to under "insert" select
"object" then pick "Microsoft equations.3" however when I am on my
home computer and am using word on the Mac version I am not able to
use any Math equations in my reports. Does anyone know how to insert
math equation into my word document from my Mac?

Equation Editor is included [depending on version] on your install disk, it
just doesn't get installed unless you do a Custom Install. You should be
able to retrieve it from there without having to reinstall Office.

Or you may want to have a look here first:

The reason why is because when you installed Office you went through
the setup assistant and it does not install all the components, what
you can do is to go into the Office 2004 folder and drag the Office
folder to the trash and place in your Office 2004 CD and double click
on Microsoft Office 2004 and drag the Office folder out and place it
in the Office 2004 folder to replace the Office folder that you
dragged to the trash.

Hi,

As others have pointed out, when Office was installed on your computer the
Equation Editor component was skipped.

Equation Editor is a light version of a product called MathType. Both are
made by a company called Design Science.

My suggestion is that you visit the Design Science web site:
http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/

Download a copy of MathType. Use it in the full mode for 30 days at no
charge. After 30 days it reverts to Equation Editor, which you can use for
free forever. You're not under any obligation to purchase the full version
and they are good about not hounding you to death about it.

There are some advantages to following my suggestion over some of the other
suggestions that were posted.

If you run the Office installer and use it to install Equation Editor you'll
have to re-install all of the Office updates. No big deal, but it's
needlessly time consuming.

When you download MathType you get a free font that has lots of special
characters in it. You get to keep the font and use it even after the 30 day
free trial is over.

Now I say all of this based on information that's a bit old, but I'm pretty
sure it all still applies. If you follow my advice and find things have
changed please post a follow-up message.

Thanks.
