Sorry, this has what to do with designing tables in Microsoft Access? (the
topic of this newsgroup)

Hi:

I opened an API account so I could do research on
the Google database. Unfortunately, I am not a programmer
nor have any real ability in that field and quickly
realized that it was way above my abilities. I am very
interested in researching keywords used on google's
searches, similar to what "Wordtracker" does using
the "KEI" but substituting different Formulas and ideas.
I am a teacher and not a programmer and I'm interested in
why people search for certain topics with a particular
keyword and a number of other variables.

Could you please explain to me how to get microsoft
access to open Google's database and how exactly I would
apply my formulas. Once I have accomplished this I am
hopeful that I could use my knowledge to study the other
databases of Search Engines and do comparasion and
hopefully get my ideas published.

I'm embarrassed that I lack such fundamental
abilites to run my studies but would truly appreciate any
help or suggestions.

Thank you,

James

Hi James,

About all I know about the Google APIs is what I read in Tara Calishain
& Rael Dornfest, _Google Hacks: 100 Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools_,
O'Reilly, 2003.

The APIs seem to be intended strictly for developers. They let you
program many kinds of Google searches and get the results in
machine-readable form; they don't make it possible just to "open
Google's database". As far as I can tell they don't return data in a
form that Access can easily import, so Access may well not be the best
tool for whatever it is you want to do.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to use Google to hunt out the
forums where people discuss using the APIs, and seek help there.
