I am trying to make a sign in Word for Macs using a particular font. I
want the letters to be a particular size. Can you tell me how to set
up a page so the letters print out at 3.33" high and 2.33" high with
the spacing between each line to be .75"?

Mary,

Have you invoked the Font dialog box by typing Command>D? Click on
the Font tab and type the size of the font in the Size field. Click
on the Character Spacing tab, select Expanded from the Spacing drop-
down menu, then type the spacing in the By: field. There are
approximately 72 points per inch. This means that you could simply
multiply a measurement in inches by 72 in order to derive a result.
With a little testing you should be able to print the size you want.
Don't forget to do a Page Setup (File menu) first to select the
specific printer you are using.

Hello, I would like to make it a bit clear. 72 dpi - dots per inch are the
resolution of screen. That's differenet thing.

When speaking about fonts (we in Europe) use Didot measuring systems for
fonts. That means that 1point=0.3759mm. Thus 8pt font will appear as
0.3759*8=3mm. However be carefull there are also other parameters as mean
height which can cause that two 8pt fonts will visually appear better and
wore readible (visually can be thought to be smaller and bigger even both
being 8pt)
So 8pt font will be aproximately 3mm height when printed.
Hope this will help.
