Using MIDI to trigger PPoint

I am a musician and my hands are busy so I would like to trigger
slides or groups of slides in my PPoint presentation using a MIDI foot
controller. How do I set this up? Where in the PPoint drop downs is
the way to link a MIDI foot controller to the slide show?

No such critter in PPT, I'm afraid.

Maybe get a cheap mouse, work out how it's wired and re-rig a standard
footpedal to short the right wires in a mouse cable?

Hi There,

I use MIDI to control various other things on my computer using two programs.

The first is Bome's MIDI Translator. This converts incoming MIDI messages to
keystrokes (I have mine assigned to all the windows key commands as I don't
use them).

Then I use Auto Hot Keys to assign complex macros to those key strokes.

For example you could set a script up so that when MIDI CC value 1 on
channel 10 is recieved, bomes sends the key stroke [windowskey+q].

When Auto Hot Keys picks up the [windowskey+q] command it excutes a script
which could do something like

Focus on powerpoint
Push the right arrow left three times
wait 20 seconds
push the right arrow left one time

Using Bome's Midi Translator I was able to set up a system that will
work fine. I purchased a Wireless Midi interface and a newish Tech21
Midi Mouse that only send program change messages. I haven't got it
all but I did a test using a little Oxygen8 Midiman keyboard
controller sending the "C0 05" program change command and Powerpoint
via Bome's responded with no problems...very cool.
