Using MS OL Backup tool--error message received

I am attempting to use the MS OL backup tool to backup .pst files on a
regular basis.

Here is error message received: " Cannot copy Outlook. The proces can not
access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file".

Any ideas, workarounds or suggestions?

Thanks.

I recently got this Add-in and received the same message. I downloaded
"sysinternals" which allowed me to see what process was running the handle
Outlook.pst and it was... Explorer.exe! Sysinternals allowed me to End the
Handle at which point I was able to do my back-up. Unfortunatly if I restart
my computer Explorer.exe still uses Outlook.pst thus locking it back up. Ive
yet to find a decent solution apart from going in with sysinternals and
ending the handle though. Hope this helps.

TimTheEnchanter:

Try this fix posted elsewhere in this group. Worked like a charm for me!

Minutes after posting the original message I have found the solution as
follows:

1. Ensure the Add-In is installed.

2. Exit Outlook.

3. On the Start menu click Run.

4. In the Open box type the following and click OK.

(This should all be on one line and there is a SPACE between 'microsoft' and
'Office.')

regsvr32 "c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\addins\outbak.dll"

NOTE: You may need to adjust the above path to Outbak.dll to match the
location on your computer.

5. After running the command line start Outlook.

I hope this helps someone else.

I am also receiving the "Cannot Copy Outlook" error. The previous procedure
didn't work for me. I did a search for "sysinternals" on the MS download
page and it didn't find it. Can you paste a link for the download?
Thanks!
