Using Multiple Country Calendars Across A Single Project

Hi,
I have a resource pool for all employee's used on projects. However, we
have employee's in many parts of the world, each location with different
holidays, and each project can use resources from multiple country locations.

Should I create multiple calendars to cope with each locations holidays in
the one resource pool, or have a resource pool per country? I am guessing
that if I had a resource pool per country, then I would not be able to use
the 'standard' calendar name.

If I had a resource pool per location, could I still have a master resource
pool with the other resource pools linked into it?

I am also assuming that project would know which calendars to use when using
resources across locations for a single project?

To add more complexity, we are also looking at going to project server in a
few months, so I need a solution that will work for both - or understand how
each soloution will work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Fiona

Hi Fiona-NZ,

You can only have one resource pool, so your solution is to create a new
base calendar for each country. In the Resource Sheet, assign the relevant
country base calendar to each resource. Now when you edit a base calendar
for a country you update the calendars for all resources using that base
calendar. Any edit to an individual resource will still over-write any base
calendar changes.

Are you based in New Zealand? I am as well and I specialise on Project
Server Implementations so email me on rodgATproject-systems.co.nz if you
need help or advice.

Thanks Rod!

When I create my project plan, do I need to do anything special with the
calendars, or will it figure it out by itself?

And yes, I am based in Auckland NZ. :)

Thanks Again!
