Using Numbers Before Tables

Hi,

I would like to put a number, then a tab, then a table.

So it might look like this:

1. Begin table here with multiple lines.

2. Begin a different table here.

Every time I try to add a table, it puts the number 1 in
the table. Is there a word around for this?

Thanks for your expertise!

If you're trying to type a table caption, there are basically two ways:

1. You can do it in a separate paragraph before the table.

2. You can do it in the first row of the table (but if you want repeating
table headers, it will automatically be one of them).

If you're trying to do (1), then you need to have some text after the number
before pressing Enter and then inserting the table.

Hi,

Thanks for your ideas. I don't actually want a table
caption, I want to indent a table after typing the number
1. I want to make a numbered bullet, and then indent a
table that will begin on the same line as the first
numbered bullet. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks

Not as such (unless you wrap the table, and you really don't want to do
that). Your best bet is to add a (borderless) column to the left and put the
number in that.
