Using Office 2003 and Office 2000

R

Ronin Vladiamhe

We have a couple of new computers that came preinstalled with Office Basic
2003 (word, excel, outlook). Can parts of Office 2000 Pro (pccess,
powerpoint, publisher, small business tools) be installed and used with the
OB 2003? If so, will the installation of the specific 2000 Pro apps require
that they be installed in a folder other than the OB 2003 folder?

Hi. Yes, it's possible, and yes, to a different directory, it is recommended
to install the 2000 version first. Please note that if OB was purchased as
an upgrade, and Office 2000 Pro was the base, then you have no legal right
to use both at the same time.

OB 2003 was presinstalled on the new computer, so it's not an upgrade. We
purchased O2kPro (retail) a couple years ago. So your saying it's better to
uninstall OB 2003, install O2kPro, and then reinstall OB 2003? Since OB 2003
is already installed, could we not just install O2kPro without the word,
excel, and outlook components, or are there certain components of those three
programs (O2kPro versions) necessary to use the O2kPro versions of access and
powerpoint?

Thanks for the help. With the fact that our OB 2003 is not the "upgrade"
version... If we uninstall OB 2003, install O2kPro, and reinstall OB 2003,
will OB 2003 automatically "overwrite" the word, excel, outlook, and all
other pertinent components of O2kPro? Basically, after uninstalling OB 2003,
should we install our retail version of O2kPro (in full), before reinstalling
OB 2003, or install O2kPro without the word, excel, and outlook components?
Since the two versions of office will be in different folders, would we not
end up with two installations of word, excel, and outlook?

No, when you are trying to run multiple version, always start with the
oldest one first.
