Using Office 2004 and Office 2008 on the Same Computer

Hello all,

Is it possible to install say Word 2004 and Excel 2004 and Entourage
2008 and Powerpoint 2008 on the same computer?

Alternatively, can I buy a Apple Script recorder so that I can easily
create Apple Macros? Then I wouldn't care if I had Word and Excel
2004...

Yes, you can install those on the same computer and even run them at the
same time. I am unaware of any apple script recorders.

This is an extension to Bob's question, can Office 2004 and Office 2008 live
and breathe (and run without problems) on the same computer? Or does the
installation of Office 2008 require removal of Office 2004 to run correctly.

I have to transition several hundred teachers to 2008 but want them to have
access to 2004 during the transition period. Thanks.

The Office 2008 installer asks if should remove previous versions at the end
of the installation. If you say no, then the previous version will be remain
installed. You can run both 2004 and 2008 versions of the programs as the
same time if you wish EXCEPT you CAN NOT do this with Entourage. Entourage
2008 rebuilds the database and 2004 can no longer read it.

The other caveat is that when you double click a file the 2008 version of
the app will run. To run the 2004 version, simply open it and then use the
file menu to open a file.
