Using Office '95 - Word '97 Viewer/Converter Both Needed?

Almost got the whole question in the subject line but hey, I'm using
Office '95 and need to be able to read Word '97 docs - any reason to
install the viewer and not just the converter? Converter opens '97
docs in Word so why install the viewer too? Does the viewer view
things that the converter might miss?
