Using older templates

I have a lot of templates I created in the last version of PP. SInce the 2008 version uses "themes", how can I import all of my templates so that they're available again. It would take many hours to recreate them.

To apply your template to the current document,
1. Format menu > Slide Theme > From File... , then select your template and
click Apply button
2. Click on ³Browse...² button in Document Theme panel in the Formatting
Palette. Select your template and click Apply button. There is ³Browse²
button in Theme Gallery in the Slide Theme tab

Thank you,

When I try importing and applying a template that I used many, many times in Office 2004, PowerPoint 2008 hangs. I've allowed PowerPoint 5-10min to import the template but it did not respond.

My presentation was only 5 pages long and the slides only had bulleted text on them.

I have a lot of templates in my previous version of Word. How can I use those in the new version? And where can I find instructions regarding templates? I seem to be getting only a few lines on 'troubleshooting' (but not about my trouble in sorting out the old templates). An additional question I have: wouldn't it be possible to include one's own templates in the menue of the 'new' button for example? Access to templates has been cumbersome in the past, I am somehow hoping for progress in this area.

Thanks Steve, yes, I think my confusion is due to the fact that I expected something new, which in fact is not to be found in the new office version. As previously, one shifts the old template folder, the one that the 'remove office' programme has 'rescued' and placed on the desktop, to the 'new' templates folder by hand. The templates then appear in the same menue as before, in the project gallery. I am disappointed by this, because I was hoping to finally be able to open my various letterheds, standard forms etc. at the click of a button, with all these new graphic gallery style menues...
